East Leeds 11s v Stanley Rangers Under 11s
25.04.09
After a really poor performance last weekend the team stepped up a gear this weekend in their game against a strong East Leeds side. The game was held to a one try and one conversion only victory to East Leeds and a massive defensive effort was put in from the Stanley players.
Kieran Holroyd who picked up the Man of the Match and Top Tackler awards had a big defensive game along with George Lord. Ashley White and Ross Grattan who both picked up Player of the week awards also put in a good effort in the middle of the park. Jack and Adam Badkin both had sound performances and Adam made some fantastic tackles to hold out the opposition on a few occasions.
Unfortunately too many dropped balls and missed opportunities prevented Stanley from scoring but it wasn't from the lack of trying especially from Jordan Boyce and Corey Eaton who both tried to jink their way through the East Leeds defence. Sam Clark and Thomas Harwood ran the middle of the pitch like clockwork and Thomas made some good try saving tackles. Harry Hirst was ever present and put in a good effort. Ben Goodlad was as solid as ever in defense and was in the running for top tackler but was just pipped to it by Kieran. Lewis Locking almost got over to put the team level but was just short and Matthew Ogden put in a couple of good runs but was unable to capitalise on them, defensively he was covering all over the park and picked up the Magic Moment award for his efforts.
There were some good ares to reflect on and take from this game however once again the lack of concentration which resulted in too many mistakes cost us the game in the end.
