Stanley Under 11s won the Charity Challenge festival at Shaw Cross Sharks this week with some fast and open play. The team at times looked disorganised, but had to reduce to 10 players and with interchanges going on every minute it did not help our normal structured play.
Levi Johnson in the first game was sensational and produced one of, if not the best tackle I have ever seen at any level. It was so good that former Wildcat and now Leeds Rhino Jay Pitts said it was the best effort he had ever seen. Levi did not play any part in the festival after the first game with a suspected broken hand, which thankfully turned out just bruised.
Thomas Sowerby at full back was dynamite, scoring 4 tries and creating 2 others in both games. Thomas was great under a high ball, and defended very well. Thomas was awarded the Player of the Festival by Jay Pitts..
Jordan O'Niell and Reece Matysiak steamed foward all game, with Sean Smith also looking awesome out wide. Hobson, and Tovey looked dangerous all day, and as a team we all performed well, and are looking foward to this season.
Well done boys on your first ever trophy.
