Eastmoor U11s v Stanley Rangers Under 11s
03.10.09
Stanley won this game after a very poor performance by their standards. The game was slow to start, and Stanley made a massive amount of mistakes but they were not punished for them. Eastmoor attacked very well, and showed some real determination, with their scrum half Nathan Wilson being by far their best player, and our Opposition Man of the Match.
Stanley Rangers man of the match was Levi Johnson, and boy is he looking the part. Levi controlled our attack, and was a constant threat to the Eastmoor defence, with his running, and distribution. Levi provided the pass of the game to open up a gap at a crucial point in the match for Thomas Sowerby to race 40 yards to score his first try.
Thomas Sowerby was awarded the opposition man of the match, and rightly so, he scored his third hat trick of the season, and all of them were outstanding efforts, with his last score from a scoot beating 5 defenders to race 80 yards to score under the posts. Thomas is becoming an out and out match winner, and tonight was no exception.
Reece Matysiak was again the forward to choose from Stanley. His defence, engine, and attacking ability was simply superb. I was very pleased with his overall contribution, and devastating running to get us on the front foot. Tom Sale again showed his ability not only to create space and play, but to defend, and had another good game. Jacob Barnes also looked the part at hooker, a difficult position to play, and he is developing very well indeed. Matty Hobson was awarded the Magic Moment for a run down the touch line to score the first Stanley try. Tom Mynett was awarded the Top Tackle for a last minute try-saving tackle in the dying seconds to secure a deserved but hard fought win.
