Stanley Rangers Under 11s 9 v Stanningley U11s 8
21.10.12
This weekend saw the first game of the Under 12’s BARLA Cup, with Stanley Rangers Under 11s (playing as Under 12s) taking on Stanningley at home. The match turned out to be a thrilling end-to-end defensive master class by both teams.
Stanley went ahead first with a try from Sam Middleton, converted by Jack Walsh, but Stanningley were relentless in their attack, and eventually multiple penalties conceded by Stanley allowed Stanningley to get back in the game. Set after set, the Rangers matched the attacking and defensive effort of the opposition, with great lines breaks by Jack Cawood, Tom Holroyd, and Matty Race, and huge tackle count by Robbie Powell, however the score was leveled at 8-8 following a 2 point penalty for Stanley Rangers and a 2nd try for Stanningley. With 2 minutes left on the clock a drop goal by Cam Lees took the score to 9-8, and Rangers went on to take the win.
The awards were given to Jack Cawood (Players' Player of the Match), The whole team were awarded Parents Player and Top Tackler, for an outstanding all-round effort. Cam Lees was awarded the away team MOTM. |
