Stanley Rangers U11s v Wigan St Judes U11s
14.04.07

A visit from one of the North West’s top sides kicked off Stanley Rangers U11s new season. The friendly against Wigan St Jude’s was played out on a hot Indian summer day.

A hard fought first half saw Stanley with most of the possession and they went into half time in the lead thanks to converted tries from Ben Hardaker and Jacob Ware,  whilst only giving up a single unconverted score.

During the second half, despite the intelligent kicking of Danny Sowerby, Stanley could not get their normal free-flowing rugby moving as their tough tackling and a hard pitch produced injuries and a stop-start game. Wigan came back strongly and they made the only score, again unconverted. Late on, a tenacious defensive effort from the Rangers made sure they held on for a deserved win against high quality opposition.
