Stanley Rangers U12s 20 V Shaw Cross Sharks U12s 6
08.03.09
Stanley Rangers march on with a superb display against Shaw Cross Sharks, a top side full of quality players. Stanley took hold of the game early on, with the big fast wide runners Jacob Ware and Keiran Holt running great lines off Danny Sowerby at halfback.
Jacob was awarded the Man of the Match after a sensational hatrick, but was pushed very close by Max Jowitt who was outstanding in both defence and attack. Daniel Sowerby had his best half of the season and created the first three tries with inside, and short balls, and a cross field kick to perfection.
Keiran Holt ran as like a demon, showing the opposition a clean pair of heels on more than one occasion, and supporting his team mates.
The hooker known to all as Ben Cornell was outstanding in parts, and controlled the middle of the field with some gifted vision, pin point passing, and clever scooting. He is the league's number one hooker, and a massive team member.
Jacob ran very well all game, and looked like his old self today, running all the correct lines, and showing his determination in both defence and attack.
The team captain, and by far the best leader we have ever had Callum Sampson showed his massive array of skills today, running, defending, and creating space whenever his trusty side kick Jonny Holmes followed him. Callum played at first receiver on several occasions today, and it worked a treat.
The Magic Moment was awarded for a master try.It was on the 4th tackle on the right hand touch line when Daniel called a turn up which was executed to perfection by himself and Callum Sampson, laid onto Ben Hardaker, through to Keiran Holt, Max Jowitt, and to wingman Alex Hobson who beat 3 defenders to score in the opposite corner.
The season is still alive and we will have to be at the top of our game next week against the strong and top quality Stanningley outfit.
The Opposition Man of the Match today went to Ben Cornell, and ours went to Shaw Cross's hard working, and industrial halfback Sam Otterwell, well done Sam.
