Wow, what a game in the Yorkshire Junior League Cup, between two superb and dedicated sides. The game ended in all fairness with a close victory for the home side. Stanningley played hard and fast, and caught us in no mans land on many occasions with some great defence, and attack. The Stanningley Man of the Match voted for by STANLEY  was awarded to Jordan Lilley, a player who is a tremendous leader, ran, kicked, and directed them all game, so well done Jordan.

 

Stanley showed an awful lot of heart in defence, and the two stand out players today wore 8 & 10 the front row combination of Callum Sampson and Jonny Holmes. Callum not only worked very hard but ran, offloaded, and passed with skill and vision. Callum for his efforts was awarded the Opposition Man of the Match, well done Cal.

 

The Stanley Man of the Match was awarded to Jonny Holmes, he was awsome in every part of his game, running, and tackling, and worked his socks off, well done Jonny.

 

The game was a very close fought encounter, one score for them, and Alex Hobson taking his try well for us. The boys nearly nicked it at the end, with Danny Sowerby beating three men to be pulled down inches short. The game went into extra time, and and with a long range effort Stanningley scored to win the game.

 

The boys need not be down-hearted by this defeat, we are all very proud of most of their efforts, and the likes of Kieran Holt who defended well, Ben Hardaker and Matty English who ran well, Alex Parker who did not put a foot wrong, can all take credit for their performances.

 

The next fixture is Cas Panthers at home, see you all there, again a well done to Stanningley in a well deserved win.
