An open game of rugby with defences on top saw a very close encounter between 2 committed sides. The Wildcats were the first to register a score with a try form second row Joe Smith. The kick was unsuccessful. Jack Pemberton then scooted in for a trade mark try to extend the lead to 8 points. Again the conversion was missed. Crigg then registered their first points of the game on the stroke of half time whilst the Wildcats were down to 12 men through injuries. The try was improved to leave the hosts trailing by only 2 points.
Half time - Crigglestone 6 v 8 Stanley Wildcats.
On a very hot day it was defences that dominated the second half and the scoring was kept to a minimum. Jack Taylor was next on the score sheet with his first try of the season after a kick and chase from a Lewis Gower kick. The kick was again missed. Ben Fisher was the next to register a try with a strong run through a tiring Crigg defence. This left the hosts with too much to do and the Wildcats maintained their lead although it was Crigg that ended the scoring with a well worked try, again through tiring defence. The conversion was missed. A very god test for the Wildcats and some strong performances from both sides in very hot conditions.
