The Wildcats were the first on the board for only the second time this season with a trade mark try by acting half Jack Pemberton early in the game, this was exactly the same start as when they played at Crigglestone away in the league. This was improved by Jacob Unwin to leave the Wildcats in front at 6-0. This stirred Crigg and they were the next to score but the kick was unsuccessful. Crigg then went on to register the next score with a try down the left hand side and again the kick was missed. The Wildcats then replied quickly through prop forward Ben Fisher for the first of his hat trick of scores. The kick was missed. It was Ben Fisher that posted the next try stretching the lead to 6 points in favour of the hosts. Crigg were not to be outscored in the first half and they equalled the scores with a try and a conversion.
Half time - Wildcats 14 v 14 Crigglestone.
The second half saw the game continue to be an end to end affair and the Wildcats continued where they had left off by posting their 4th try through captain Dominic Dorgan. Again this was improved by Jacob Unwin restoring the lead for the Wildcats .Crigg had their best spell of the game and registered 3 further tries, 2 of them converted, and this gave the visitors a 10 point lead. Back came the Wildcats through prop Ben Fisher to complete his hat trick and reduce the gap to only 4 points after another kick from Jacob Unwin. Crigg finished the stronger and posted what was to be the winning try with the game in the balance. Overall Crigg deserved their win as they were the stronger side in the second half and made the most of their territory. The Wildcats did not defend as they could and there were also some very poor refereeing decision for both teams and this did not help the Wildcats cause.
