The Wildcats produced their best performance of the season against a strong and physical Lions team in some very difficult weather conditions. After a poor performance at York the previous week a big improvement was expected and this was exactly the response from the boys. The game started in the now customary way with the opposition scoring the first points of the game with a strong run from the strong running lions centre. The conversion was successful to make the score 6-0 in favour of the hosts. This was the wake up call the Wildcats needed and they responded almost immediately with a try from powerhouse prop Ben Fisher and with a successful conversion this tied the scores. The Wildcats then took firm control of the game and registered further tries through Dominic Dorgan, following an excellent kick from Lewis Gower, and an individual effort from Sam Mawson. Both were converted to give the Wildcats a very healthy lead at the half time break.

Half time - Featherstone Lions 6 - 18 Stanley Wildcats.

The second half was almost a copy of the first with some outstanding efforts in defence from the Wildcats and the hosts found it almost impossible to break the Wildcats down. It was the Wildcats that opened the scoring in the second half with a strong effort from Robert Hartley. This time the conversion was missed leaving the score at 22-6 in favour of the Wildcats. Strong defence and handling errors from both teams kept the scoring down until a penalty produced the 4th successful kick for Jacob Unwin leaving the hosts with far too much to do to take anything from the game. A sin binning for captain Dom Dorgan did not help the Lions as again some excellent defence kept them out. The final score of the game came from the Lions centre for his and his team's second try and the final whistle sounded just after the unsuccessful conversion. Both teams were a credit to their clubs with some outstanding rugby played in very wet conditions.
