This competition was seen as the Wildcats best chance to win a trophy this season and hopes were high. These hopes diminished after a lacklustre performance saw the Wildcats go down to a defeat at the hands of an enthusiastic and organised Kippax side.
The first score of the game did go to the Wildcats after an excellent off load from Oliver Stockton, playing at centre, saw the supporting Joe Sampson register the first points of the game. The conversion was missed leaving the visitors in front. This was just the start the Wildcats needed as they chose to play in to a strong breeze.
Good defence from the Wildcats kept the hosts at bay for much of the first half but they did mange to get over the line for their first try and this was also converted to give the hosts a 2 point advantage. The Wildcats' defence held out for the rest of the first half and the Wildcats were unable to post any more points.

                          Half time - Kippax 6 - 4 Stanley Wildcats

After a strong defensive effort in the first half it was expected that the Wildcats would use the strong wind to help launch a strong second half but this was not to be however it was the Wildcats, through outstanding loose forward Robert Hartley, that scored first to put the visitors ahead for the second time. Again the conversion was missed leaving the Wildcats now with the 2 point advantage. This was the start the Wildcats wanted but an error straight form the re start saw the hosts take the lead out wide on the Wildcats left. This gave the hosts a big lift and they went on to score a further try to extend the lead to 14-8.
The Wildcats then put some pressure on the hosts line and forced a drop out and it only seemed a mater of time before the pressure would turn to points. After a series of poor decisions by the referee the hosts were able to work their way up field and after yet another poor call the hosts took the 2 points on offer to extend the lead to 8 points, effectively meaning 2 scores from the Wildcats. The Wildcats were unable to make any further impression on the game and there ended the hopes in the competition. Overall the hosts were the better defensive team and took their chances when they came along and the Wildcats were left disappointed.
