A win for the Wildcats in this game would see them take their place at the top of Division 3 and to secure a place in Division 2 next season. With all this at stake, and in very strong windy conditions, the Wildcats were in no mood to miss out and started much the stronger.
In a totally one-sided affair it was the Wildcats that opened the scoring very early with the first try from leading try scorer Jack Pemberton going over for his 16th of the campaign. A difficult conversion was missed. It wa snot long before stand off Sam Mawson went over the line to increase the lead to 8-0 in favour of the visitors, again the conversion was missed. Next to score was loose forward Frankie Mulhern for his 9th try in only his 4th game. Winger Jack Taylor was next to score leaving the visitors with a healthy 16-0 lead in very quick time. Sam Mawson went over for his second try of the game and with a conversion from centre Jacob Unwin this left the visitors with an emphatic lead that Whinmoor Warriors were never going to make much ground on.

The second half was very much as you were with the Wildcats not relenting with the point scoring and it was Frankie Mulhern that went over first, his 10th in 4 games, and a successful conversion from Jacob Unwin saw the score at 28-0. Playing down the slope with the wind at thier backs it was a matter of how many more points the rampant Wildcats would score before the final whistle.
Next on the score sheet was centre Oliver Stockton with the conversion missed. Substitute and winger Tom Shippen was next to keep the scorers busy with a quick double out wide on the Wildcats right after some excellent work from Jacob Unwin. Sam Mawson went over to complete his hat trick leaving the Wildcats 2 points short of the half century. It wasnt long before this was achieved with the next score coming from prop and captain Ben Fisher after some excellent ball handling.
The final score of the game went to the first and top try scorer hooker Jack Pemberton, his 17th of the season so far. In total 12 tries were scored with some excellent open rugby given the conditions and Jacob Unwin was successful with 6 conversions.

The Wildcats have one league game to complete the season at home to York Acorn with a chance to avenge a shock defeat earlier in the season. If results go well for the Wildcats then they can still win the league although this is unlikely.
