A big improvement was required by the Wildcats after a poor showing against Crigglestone the previous week and this was the case. The cause was made easier due to a lack of numbers on the Whinmoor side. Despite this handicap Whinmoor were outstanding with their effort and commitment and had they had the sufficient numbers then the game would have been much closer than it turned out to be. The Wildcats scored 11 tries during the game and with 8 successful kicks this gave the Wildcats their highest ever score. The game was almost over at half time after the Wildcats registered tries through Dom Dorgan, Robert Hartley, Lewis Gower, Ben Fisher, his 8th of the season and Sam Mawson. 4 of the tries were improved by full back Jacob Unwin. To their credit Whinmoor did register 2 tries and made a very good start and showed that they were not there just to make up the numbers.
Half time - Wildcats 28 v 8 Whinmoor.
The second half was more of the same from the Wildcats with a further 6 tries with 4 from hooker Jack Pemberton, 11 for the season. Lewis Gower and Dom Dorgan completed their brace and there were 4 successful conversions to the tries. The tiring Whinmoor side were unlucky not to score in a reduced second half as the referee called time early due to the game situation. To their credit they kept going and working hard but there was only going to be one outcome in this game.
