Stanley paid the price for a very poor start against a very well drilled and enthusiastic Eastmoor side in the Wakefield Cup. The Stanley side due to unforeseen circumstances did not train for over 2 weeks and it clearly showed in this game. The Eastmoor forwards totally dominated the middle of the field, and it gave them far more space out wide to exploit any weak defence, to which they did.

The first half saw Moor going 14 nil up and we looked shell shocked to say the least, but after a clear break Tom Sowerby was brought back and awarded a penalty which could have given us a boost in the game.

Harry Hirst was in top form and had to do the work of most of the pack with his strong hard runs and tough defence. Tom Sowerby was also outstanding at the back taking every high ball with ease and defending very well.

Matty Hobson and   Corey Eaton are looking like they will be a great team at halfback but need more of a platform to work from.

The second half saw substitutes Mathew Sowerby and Adam Sewell enter the field of play and both made a massive impact with Mathew taking the Coaches Award for his stirling effort in attack and defence.

Tommy Gant came into his own at this stage and caused the Eastmoor defence some problems and we were unlucky not to score from a kick in the corner just inches over the line.

The whole side were disappointed, but with players missing and no training you have to try to take some positives from the performance.

Harry Hirst was awarded )pposition Man of the Match which was very well deserved.
