Stanley Rangers for the second year running won the Division One title with a tough, and hard fought win away at Dewsbury Celtic.
The Celtic coaches chose not to do a presentation, and as such our coaches did not do one either, so this week no awards were handed out and it would be unfair to single any player out for a mention. The win was a beauty!
The lads have done great all season. We lost some key players to other teams early on, played with 12 players on two occasions, and with no subs on 4 occasions. The team have won home and away at Milford in the league, and away in the cup and league at BARLA champions Stanningley, and when you can do that against teams of that standing, you deserve something at the end of the campaign.
I would also like to say a massive thankyou to the head coach Roy Sampson, and assistant coach Phil Cornell, who have both done a fantastic job this season under very difficult circumstances at times, and who have improved the team under their guidance.
I would also like to extend a big thankyou to Mark Holmes, and Tony English, both of whom have given their time and effort to help or assist the coaches week in and week out.
It was hard to win the title last year, it was even harder this year, but in the top group in under 9's, 10's, 11's, and the first division at 12,s and now 13's we have only lost 3 league games, and drawn 1 in 5 seasons of top group/division rugby league.
The lads this year gave their all and we have, over the season, been the most consistent league side, and along with Milford, who could yet win the Yorkshire Cup, and Stanningley, the BARLA champions, we can be very happy with our season.
The next game is against Lancashire Premier Division champions Wigan St Patricks away on Saturday May 15th, followed by the Wakefield and District Cup Final on Sunday 23rd May.
I also want to thank the new season's sponsors who have each provided us with a kit each for the next two years, Bollywood Lounge at Wakefield for the home kit, and former GB captain Paul Sculthorpe and Steve Copley with their company "scully13" for the away kit. A massive thank you to both sponsors who at this time to invest such an investment over 2 years is a fantastic gesture.
