U13s Rangers Presentation Evening
11.06.10
Stanley finished off the season in style with a great presentation night at the club, and after 249 first grade NRL games, and 4 origin games, Glen Morrison was warmly welcomed, and a huge rap goes out to him, and Mick Robinson for arranging the player's attendance.
The coaching team of Roy Sampson and Phil Holmes this year decided to break away from tradition, and not award a Player of the Year, Clubman of the Year, and Opposition Coaches Player of the Year.
The reason for their decision is that after a very tough and hard campaign it was almost impossible to single out one player this year. The team were awarded this due to their superb year, with few numbers, and against all the odd's came out as champions.
The Clubman award would have had to be shared by at least 10 players who all had 95% plus attendance at training, and it was thought again it was unfair to pick just one of them.
The first award was:-
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
Jack Donegan was most improved player for 2009/10. Jack had a fantastic season, and most people would have been in agreement with the coaches for their choice. Jack over the last 12 months has improved in every aspect of his game. Jack is now a first choice back rower, who will give you 110% in defence and attack.
PLAYER PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This the votes were cast, and no fewer than 5 different players received nominations. The outcome however ended with 6 votes each for Daniel Sowerby and Kieran Holt.
Daniel Sowerby has had another fantastic season, winning 9 Opposition Man of the Match awards, and 2 Stanley Man of the Match awards. His all round contribution to our attack was superb.
Kieran Holt finished his campaign in style. Kieran won 5 opposition Man of the Match awards, the Man of the Match award in the District Cup final win over Westgate, and 4 Stanley Man of the Match awards - a fantastic effort all round.
The vote turned out to be the fairest of choices. Daniel and Kieran work the left side, and along with Max Jowitt who came second in the voting have had a huge impact on our season.
