The Wakefield District Cup quarter final was an all Stanley affair between the Rangers and the Wildcats.
The Rangers showed from the off their very fast and open style of play which was a pleasure to watch. The Rangers scrum half Daniel Sowerby was devastating in attack and scored 4 tries but more importantly created numerous other scores for the best out and out strike player at this age group- Kieran Holt.
Kieran, Callum Sampson, Jonny Holmes, Jack Donnegan and Ben Cornell all set the platform to work off, and allowed all the backs the space to run riot.
Max Jowitt was outstanding in defence and attack, showing what a superb all rounder he is. Dom Jones playing at fullback for only the second time proved that he is also a fantastic all rounder.
The new star of the back row Will Hudson was fantastic in all aspects of the game, but was hurt and a back injury has forced him out for 3 weeks - a big loss to the team, as his bone-crunching defence and devastating runs caused problems for the Wildcats from the off.
New player Sam Mawson showed that he is a superb addition to the team, and will be one of the outstanding outside backs in the First Division, and to cap off a fine display with a try made his debut all that bit more special.
Well done to Ben Cornell who took home the Man of the Match award for a fantastic display of distribution and aggressive defence, with Danny Sowerby and Dom Jones taking Opposition Man of the Match and Magic Moment respectively.
The Rangers will have several players missing for the next two games against Shaw Cross and Stanningley and will have to be up for the challenge.
