Stanley Rangers hosted League Two leaders Oulton Raiders in the first round of the Yorkshire Cup. Oulton took an early 6-0 lead after some vulnerable Stanley defending and defended it for much of the first half. Despite a very physical defensive display Oulton were unable to contain a Stanley side that began to show some of the flair and fluency from the 2008-09 season. Stanley ran out impressive 30-10 winners.
Tries came from Adam Newby, Jordan Sharp and Vinnie Cross, Connor Ballinger (2) Will Carlos converting four kicks. Man of the Match went to Jordan Walker who despite having a try disallowed was exceptional in both defense and attack
