Stanley Rangers U14s 20 v Chorley Panthers U14s 22
Round 2, BARLA National Cup
09.02.14
Facing the unknown, Stanley had not come across their opposition Chorley Panthers before and faced a very large pack. Chorley made their presence known from the offset and their forwards pilled on the pressure racing into a 12 point lead before Rangers found their feet. Owen Trout crossed out wide, however the visitors replied very quickly to retain their healthy lead.
However in the 2nd half with the slope behind them Stanley began to show their usual flair with Ed Wilcox, Alfie Goddard & Nigel Dangare all crossing the line to take the lead with just 3 minutes to go. An unfortunate fumble on the next set let the visitors collect the loose ball and attack Rangers line. Despite some great defensive work Rangers were caught out on the last tackle out wide that proceeded the final whistle the only difference between the 2 was one more conversion for Chorley. Stanley were left deflated, losing out 20-22 despite a valiant effort with Goddard converting 2 from 4.
