Stanley in their second round game in the National cup drew North West Counties Division 1 side Ince Rose Bridge from Wigan. The Ince side looked big and powerful walking out, and it was going to be a tough encounter. Stanley however had other plans, and from the kick off looked very much up for the challenge and dominated the ruck area, and controlled the ball very well.

The opening try was a face ball left side attack with Daniel Sowerby giving a face ball to fullback Max Jowitt who flew in at the corner. The second try was a sensational move from open side to short side that saw McGretton to Jones, back across to Sowerby who faced Holt to hit Daley who skinned the winger to score a 4 pointer that put a smile on the coaching staff's faces.

The Wigan side looked shocked at this point, and had trouble in retaining possession. The next try was another move down the right side with Jones drawing two defenders, and hitting Holt who ran a perfect line to blast 40 yards to score.

The second half again saw us defend everything with maximum effort, and finishing the game with a clean score sheet was a very pleasing defensive effort from 1 to 17.

This game however left Sam Walker with a badly torn groin and out for several weeks at least.
