Stanley Rangers U14s 6 v Stanningley U14s 22
03.04.11
Stanley had a massive change in emotions this week after being beaten at home by Stanningley. The home side looked tired, and jaded from the start, and simply were no match for the very enthusiastic opposition who came and fully deserved the two points on offer.
Stanley this week gave away possession far too easily, we lost the ball on the first play in three out of the four penalties we were awarded being, with Stanningley scoring on 2 of those.
The team was changed due to injuries this week, and it is always difficult to re adjust against top sides like Stanningley, but even though the execution was not there today there were some top efforts from some of the boys. Daniel Sowerby broke the line on 4 occasions being held up over the line twice, Callum Sampson was tireless in attack and was rewarded with a try, Nathan Stone worked his socks off from start to finish as did Dom Jones who gave everything along with Eddie Daly and Hallum Day.
The team are only as good as the last performance, and we have Milford next up, and after getting beaten at Westgate they may be up for the challenge with added gusto, but with Max Jowitt, Brandon French, Sam Walker, and Alex Hobson back and the possibility of Lee Alderson we should be in a far better position than this week.
The side have to now regroup and dig in - we have been written off too many times over the last few seasons, and this week we have heard it all again but this is a quality side, and were beaten by the better side on the day, no excuses, simple as that.
