          Upton U14s 0 v Stanley Rangers U14s 24
    Yorkshire Cup, Round 3
    13.11.10
Stanley moved into the next round of the Yorkshire Cup with a good solid performance against a very tough Upton side.

Stanley started strongly and in a very determined mood, resulting in the opening try for Max Jowitt our sensational fullback, after he supported a left side attack. The try was converted by Tom McGretton who showed a wonderful display of kicking today in very heavy and boggy conditions. The next try was a cheeky effort from our Hooker Ben Cornell, who after the match looked like he had been on the front line. Ben scooted over from dummy half for another one of his trademark 4 pointers.

The next try not soon after was the second of the day for Max Jowitt who chased a chip kick from Daniel Sowerby to kick on and score a super try - well done Max.

The Stanley coach decided to rest some of our players in the second half, with English who was in top form, the centre partnership of Kieran Holt, and    Will Hudson, along with loose forward Ben Hardaker. These are top quality players, and it was good to see how we perform without them on the park. The second half was a tough and aggressive affair with more than its fair share of confrontations, and we as a team stuck together.

The wingers Day, and Daly for the 2nd week running showed amazing ability, and toughness, and were superb.  Jack Donnegan  as always looked dynamite once he entered the field of play, along with Brandon French, Alex Hobson, and Sam Walker who all contributed once on the park. Tom McGretton distributed well, and along with English, Daley, and Sampson were the pick of the defenders.

The next score was a solo effort by Daniel Sowerby, who was awarded Opposition Man of the Match, and the final try was from dynamic back rower Nathan Stone.

The next game is Milford at Stanley, and we have been told they are looking forward to it, and I can also say, so are we. It should be a very competitive game.
