Kellingley started brightly and immediately put Stanley under pressure. After moving down field with ease they put in a great kick which caused confusion in the Stanley defence, resulting in the ball bouncing into the hands of the chasing Kellingley player to score inside the opening 5 minutes of the game. It was the away team who dominated the game for the first period, and they quickly added to the score with some good handling sending them in at the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful making the score 0 -10.
Stanley then appeared to wake up and following some strong running from Tommy Gant and Jordan O'Neill , they progressed up the hill allowing the ball to be moved to Harry Hirst to break clear and score. Reiss Butterworth converted to make it 6-10.
Stanley were straight back on the attack from the kick off with some good handling allowing Ryan St to take Strafford on the defence and set up good position for the home team. Quick thinking from Charlie Holland allowed the ball to reach Ryan Butterworth who barged over in the corner to level the scores.
Stanley earned a penalty from the re-start as the ball was kicked out on the full. Some good handling by Reiss Butterworth and Matty Hampson sent Strafford clear to round the defence and accelerate to score. Butterworth goaled to make the half time score 16-10.
Playing down hill for the second half Stanley were able to build momentum easily following good running by Seb Dimmock and Mark Cocker. A clever inside pass from Butterworth opened the defence and Hirst powered onto the ball at pace to crash over next to the posts. Hirst converted his own try to make it 22-10.
From the restart stanley gained a penalty for a high shot, and this was now becoming the story of the second half as Kellingley's indiscipline was making it easy for Stanley to progress down field.
Strong running again from O'Neill and Hirst moved stanley towards the line and the ball was quickly moved to Butterworth who kicked behind the defence for Hobson to collect and score. Hirst goaled to make it 28-10.
Kellingley did not give in and kept coming at the Stanley defence, but the home team was determined to prevent any further tries, working hard for each other to contain the away side.
From another penalty Stanley took a quick tap and Hirst stormed onto the ball at pace to complete his hat-trick. He converted his own try to make it 34-10.
Stanley moved the ball quickly from the re-start and some good running Harry Smith and Tom Downing took stanley into the oppositions half with ease. Again a penalty was awarded to the home side, this time for off side. Hirst electing to go for goal to bring the score to 36-10.
With only a few minutes left another clever kick, this time from Hobson allowed Smith to touchdown. Hirst goaled to make the final score 42-10.
