Stanley Rangers U15s retained the Wakefield & District Cup title for the fourth year in succession earlier this week. The final which was played at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats against Upton ARLFC.
A gutsy performance was put up by Upton including an excellent defensive display which saw 2 of Stanley's early try efforts quashed which meant that it took a while for Stanley to get their first points on the scoreboard. The opening try was scored by Stanley's recent recruit Harry Morland, this was followed by a superb effort from Sam Blake. Matty English crashed over for Stanley before Liam Senior crossed over for his first of 3 tries. Harry Boyes added to the scoreline before half time.
Upton never gave up and came out strong in the second half by scoring their only try of the match which was also converted. Stanley's second half points scoring was started off by a well worked try that was finished off by Billy Hayes, Liam Senior crossed over for his second before a fantastic solo effort try scored by Lewis Heckford. Senior completed his hat trick of tries before the last try of the match was scored by Jordan Kershaw. Six of the ten tries were converted by Lewis Heckford and George Lord.
A fantastic performance and achievement from the team who have won this coveted cup at every competitive age level since starting to compete for it.
