Stanley Rangers U16s 30 v Elland U16s 16
28.03.10
Stanley finished the league campaign with a deserved victory against plucky opponents from halifax.
Adie Carr opened the scoring with a neat dummy on the outside afer Elland knocked on from the kick off. Rangers, playing some good rugby, raced in to a 20 point lead with further tries to James Glover (2) and Tom Fitzsimmons with James Glover adding two conversions before Elland hit back with two tries to give Rangers a 20-10 half time lead.
Rangers made further inroads on the Elland quarter with blockbusting drives from Grimmett, Ben Parker, Luke Moffitt, Fitzsimmons, Miller, Stansfield and Richardson laying the platform for the back line of Mcgretton, Hartness, Glover and Lord to open out the spaces for further scores for Stanley. Adam Miller was rewarded with a second half try after his superb try saving tackle. Elland then scored a converted try before Liam Grimmett dived over the whitewash to make the game safe.
Pick of the bunch were Tom Fitzsimmons, Liam Grimmett and game star Adam Miller who was workmanlike in performance.
Stanley now lead with 7 points from nearest rivals East Leeds who have 4 games remaining and would have to win all the games to snatch the title from Rangers' grasp. Stanley now wait to see if East Leeds slip up in pursuit of the league crown. Stanley go into the cup games hoping for more silverware.
