Stanley Rangers U16s 52 v Headingley Hawks U16s 4
15.11.09
A superb team effort from Stanley cemented top spot at the top of Division 2 of the Yorkshire Youth League.
Rangers started brightly with skipper Luke Moffitt crashing over after 2 mins, with Glover converting. Further pressure on the Headingley line saw James Raywood dart over with Jack Hartness and Ben Parker going over and again Raywood, who was outstanding throughout, bombing over for his second try before the break. James Glover kicking the extras to give 32-0 at the break.
Defences were tight as the second half commenced with both sides standing firm, but again it was Stanley who were playing some scintilating rugby with Hartness and Mcgretton pulling the strings in midfield and the forward pack of Fitzsimmons, Richardson, Parker, Stansfield who had a superb game and the blockbusting runs of prop Liam Grimmett paving the way for the hard yards. Further tries from Carr and Grimmett took the score upto 42- 6. Headingley became frustrated as the game ran away from them, as Glover and Mcgretton added further scores to finish off a great team display.
Stanley were superb in a controlled and disciplined effort and brushed any ill discipline from their opponents with vintage rugby that must go down as their best display of the season so far.Coach Craig Lord praised all the team in the clubhouse afterwards picking out Jordan Aruther, Ben Richy and Star man James Raywood.
Next game sees Stanley come up against bogey side Crigg All Blacks.
