10.11.09
Stanley Rangers U16s remain top of Division Two with a hard fought 30-20 victory at Victoria Rangers.
Tries from James Glover (2), Ben Parker and Ady Carr, earned Rangers a hard-fought victory in heavy conditions, against spirited opponents.
Stanley started brightly scoring on the first play of the game after Bradford knocked on from the kick off, with Ben Parker powering through from a flat pass from Jack Hartness which James Glover converted. With Hartness pulling the strings around the ruck, the forwards pack of Richardson, Miller, Moffitt, Grimmett, Raywood and Fitzsimmons made the yardage into the Bradford quarter.Tempers flared when Stanley captain Luke Moffitt was involved in aN altercation at the play the ball when a Bradford player headbutted Moffitt and Moffitt retaliated, causing a bit of a commotion, forming a scrum of players. The refereeho controlled the game very well throughout., handled the situation superbly, sending both players from the field of play. Half time approached with Stanley leading 12-4.
Bradford started the 2nd half very brightly scoring two quick tries to bring it back to 12-10. Stanley then decided to wake up realising there was a 2nd half to play. Hartness and Magretton showed good hands bringing the forward line into the Bradford quarter. A kick from Hartness into the corner was superbly caught from Glover who splashed down under the the sticks. Glover converted to make it 16-10. Further scores from Carr and Glover pulled Stanley away near the end, finishing up 30-20 for the final score.
On the whole Stanley played in spits and spams but considering it was theIr first game in 3 weeks victory was deserved. Good work from Tom Fitzsimmons, Arron Moore and Jack Hartness laid the foundations which takes Stanley into a top of the table clash with Headingley on Sunday 15/11/09. Expect some fireworks -i certaInly will.
