Stanley's unbeaten start to the season continued with an impressive win away to Parkside in a very bruising encounter.
Stanley started brightly with early pressure resulting in Jake Smith forcing himself over for the first try of the game. Stanley created the better chances in the remainder of the first half but couldn't manage to add to their early score. Stanley's defensive effort was brilliant and withstood everything Hunslet could throw at them. Stanley made several impressive one on one tackles, with Alfie Goddard, Kyle Holdroyd, Ryan Snowden and Owen Trout in particular producing strong defensive displays. The strong jinking runs of Cameron Lees and Jake Smith were a constant threat to Parkside's defence.
Stanley were caught napping at the re start and allowed Hunslet to break from inside there own half to level the scores. But Stanley were not prepared to waste all the good work they did in the first half, and Parkside's score just served to bring Stanley to life. From the restart Owen Trout burst through to put Stanley back in front, and this was quickley followed by a good individual try by Cameron Lees, who beat several defenders before going over in the corner. A couple of missed tackles by Stanley saw Hunslet pull one back, before an aggresive burst by Ryan Snowden saw him score for Stanley. An impressive run by Jake Smith saw him set up the last try for Man Of Steel Owen Trout, his second of the game. Hunslet literally threw everything at Stanley late in the game, but Stanley stood strong and withstood the efforts of Hunslet to secure any sort of consolation.
Man of the Match went to Kyle Holroyd, Top Tackler Alfie Goddard and special effort went to Cameron Lees. Both teams produced some excellent rugby in what was a terrific game to be involved in.
Tries: Jake Smith, Owen Trout 2, Ryan Snowden, Cameron Lees.
