Stanley under 9's made it seven wins in seven games so far this season with a comprehensive victory over New Earswick.
Stanley's forward line of Owen Trout, Ryan Snowden, Declan Honeyman, Kyle Holroyd and Stephen Gibbs laid the foundations for Stanley to dominate from the start. As has been the case this season Stanley's defence was sound and their forward running caused New Earswick problems right from the first set, with Owen Trout going over in the first couple of minutes. This was quickly followed by tries from Jake Smith, Declan Honeyman and Alfie Goddard before New Earswick managed to breach the Stanley defence for their first score. Stanley responded with another score from Jake Smith before New Earswick sneaked in again for their only other score of the game.
Stanley continued their good work in the second half with further tries from Ben Green, Stephen Gibbs, another from Declan Honeyman and two more for hatrick hero and Man of the Match Alfie Goddard. The last try by Goddard came from a magical fifth tackle kick by Cameron Lees, which earned him the Magic Moment award. Stanley had managed to 'score' from an earlier kick from Jake Smith only for it to be ruled out for off side. Stanley's defence stood firm in the second half with New Earswick failing to trouble the scorers after the interval. Jake Smith stopped a certain try with a great tackle, as did Stephen Gibbs, which earned them the joint top tackler awards, and they were well backed up by the joint Man of Steel winners Owen Trout and Ryan Snowden, the latter also winning the opposition Man of the Match award. Stanley coped well with New Earswick's kicking game, with Jake Smith, Alfie Goddard and Ryan Snowden covering well. Stanley also managed to influence the game by introducing their own kicking game for the first time this season. There were much improved displays from Lewis Pearson, Joe Hall and Liam Brady.
