Ovenden eased their own re-election worries with a 22-8 win over Stanley Rangers.
In blustery conditions, Stanley opened the scoring in the 15th minute when winger Neil Shackleton crossed the line. Ovenden replied with tries from Barlow and Hartley. With substitute James Howcroft adding fresh impetus to Stanley, Rangers pulled back with a try from Jamie Gollings on the 39th minute to close the half time score at 16-8.
The second half was nip and tuck with Gareth Whitehead and James Howcroft putting in a good performance. It was Ovenden's day when their hooker Sutcliffe crossed for a try, goaled by Hartley.
