Castleford Panthers U11s v Stanley Rangers U11s Rangers
10.05.08
Stanley Rangers Under 11s won their second game in 3 days, with a fine victory against a strong, and determined Castleford Panthers side. The game was played in very difficult conditions, with heat and humidity being a factor, but all the players of both sides coped well.
The final score was 34 points to 10 to Stanley, and we had to fight for every point. The coaching staff decided not to award trophies this week due to the fixture being a Co-Op Festival game.
The try scorers for Stanley included Daniel Sowerby with a pair of well taken tries, the second being superb. Alex Parker supported most carries, and his efforts paid off. A quick thinking Parker scored at a crucial time in the game. Ben Cornell with his trade mark dummy again scored, with a scoot from dummy half, and the ever reliable Max Jowitt going 50 yards for a touchdown.
The forwards like on most occasions played a significant role today, Callum Sampson was superb in attack, as was Johnny Holmes and Grub Pawsey, Pawsey getting better by the week. The whole side defended well, and looked like all the effort in training is paying off.
Castleford Panthers awarded Daniel Sowerby their opposition Man of the Match for his all round efforts. Danny Johnson again solid at the back, as was Ben Hardacre, and Matty English in the middle.
The next fixture is local side Westgate and as always our boys eagerly anticipate that fixture. The last encounter finished 32 30 to the Rangers, so we will need to be at our best to claim the victory.
