Under 11s Rangers Match Reports, 2007-8

Stanley Rangers Under 11s Rangersv Normanton Knights U11s
07.05.08

The only down side to a wonderful performance played in beautiful sunshine, was the serious injury to our star utility player Dom Jones. Dom for those who are not aware broke his right arm in 2 places on the very last play of the night. The whole squad send our best wished to Dom his mum and dad, Pete and Andrea, and we all wish him a speedy recovery. Normanton came on a decent run of form, and its the Local derby game all our boys wanted to play in, and they did not disappoint with a stunning victory of 58 points to 6. Tries came in thick and fast, scoring in all parts of the field, with all different players. Man of the Match went to Daniel Sowerby who created 7 of the tries with some sublime vision, passing, decision making and kicking. Man of the match 2 went to the constantly hard working Ben Hardacre, who was tireless in defence, and attack. Magic moment went to Mathew English, his defence is top drawer most games, but he pulled of a sure try saving tackle with a copybook technique.

The whole team played well, and being only able to field 11 players at any one time, the shape, and structure was maintained throughout. The outside backs Alex Parker, Max Jowitt, Alex  Keaney and Sam Walker all performed to a high level of ability, with Alex Keaney now producing the best form of any wing or outside back at this moment in any team.  The pack steamrollered on, with Harry Shillito, Calum Sampson, Grub Pawsey, and Johnny Holmes doing the hard work in the middle, with Kieron Holt, Jacob Ware, Danny Johnson and Matty English supporting every carry. Ben Cornell directed us from Dummy Half, and gets better with every game.

The team now go on to face a tough, and well drilled Castleford Panthers side this coming weekend, and if our last encounter is anything to go by, then a difficult, and challenging morning faces us.
