Under 11s Rangers v Shaw Cross U11s
26.04.08
Stanley Rangers Under 11s fought a very tough battle against the consistently good side from Shaw Cross. Stanley produced a masterclass in defence, and conceded only one try against a top outfit who had a huge possession advantage. Danny Johnson the Magic Moment winner and opposition man of the match produced a vintage performance, defying his age and experience. Danny Sowerby the creator for two wonderful try scores from Alex Keaney took the man of the match 2 honour for his distribution. The Man of the match was awarded to Kieron Holt who led from the front all game. The usual dominance from our pack was missing, but he maintained the high level of effort and performance we have become accustomed to.
This was just the test these players needed, it proved that without any possession in a game against quality sides then defence is more important than any other aspect, and this part of the game was superb. Shaw Cross did not stop, and 5 sets in the first half and 4 in the second were all defended on our line. Brandon Pickersgill was outstanding for the Sharks, and led his side never giving anything other than 100%.
Next week we roll into Normanton for the local derby game we all love to be involved in. Normanton on a good run of form will be another challenge we will face with pleasure.
