Stanningley U11s 22 v Stanley Rangers U11s Wildcats 24
19.04.08
Another tough game against a big physical Stanningley side was expected and we were not disappointed. Stanley started the game with 13 players and no substitutes so it was always going to be a tough encounter with Stanningley having 6 substitutes to call on.
Stanley started the quicker, up the slope and against the wind, and soon opened up a 12 point advantage with 2 tries from Lewis Gower and Alex Hobson. Both were goaled by Lewis Gower and Dominic Dorgan. Stanningley replied with a try just before the half time break to reduce the arrears.
The second half was as open and as hard as the first but this time Stanningley scored first to draw level after posting the first points of the half. Stanningley put some pressure on the Stanley line to no avail as it was Stanley that posted the next points with a try from powerful prop Ben Fisher. The conversion was added by Alex Hobson. Stanningley had some more possession and made it pay with a try and goal to level the scores again at 18-18. Dominic Dorgan restored the lead with a quick tap from a penalty and a goal from Jacob Unwin put Stanley 6 in front with a not long on the clock. Staningley then had the rub of the green from the referee to score the final try of the game but fortunately for Stanley the goal kick was missed. A very tough game with the Wildcats coming out on top for the first win of this campaign.
