Stanley Rangers U13's travelled to Bradford Dudley Hill and in a hard fought encounter, Bradford took the spoils 22-16.
A battling start from both teams set up a good arm wrestle in the first 15 minutes neither team willing to give away field position. Bradford used their interchange well and the tiring 13 Stanley players couldn't stop Bradford taking the lead just before half time, running in 2 tries and converting 1 of them, to give a 10-0 lead. Just before half time Stanley's hopes were raised when a planned move from the scrum saw Kian Rowley get space and power over then unfortunately hit the post with his conversion, 10-4 at half time.
Bradford started the 2nd half strongly and only some strong Stanley defence lead by Hampshire, Hopkinson, Miller and Joseph Hudson kept Bradford at bay. Again Stanley tired and Bradford scored 2 quick converted tries to put the home side in a commanding position. Stanley showed great heart to start a fight back. Great work from the forwards laid a platform for the Stanley half backs Rogerson and Clay Harnetty to get a foot hold in the match getting Kian Rowley away for another unconverted try, then with only 4 minutes left on the clock Stanley struck again with some fantastic quick hands and got Harnetty in for a great try. Again the conversion was missed. Stanley players had hope with the score at 22-12. Straight from the kick off a solid drive from Hudson and quick play of the ball gave the Stanley backs the chance to launch an attack - again some smooth skills got Kian Rowley in for his 3rd try unfortunately missing the conversion. Two minutes to go Stanley had a chance, from the kickoff but Bradford held firm, causing a Stanley knock on which ended a great game of rugby league.
Man of the Match award went to Joe Hampshire for a fantastic game just pipping Joseph Hudson for the award.
