Stanley Rangers will need to bounce back with an away tie at Illingworth this coming Saturday (13th May),, after a disappointing trip to top-of-the-league Emley Moor.
Stanley were put under pressure early on by Emley's stand off getting the players round the park and in dangerous positions, Emley scoring 2 quick tries and converting one of them to lead 10-0. Stanley then started to rally with some good forward work from Miller, Hopkinson, Hudson and Lewis Pemberton, and on the back of that some snipping runs from elusive hooker Lewi Bayliss, allowed Stanley to spread the ball well and the improving prop forward Alfie Miller to power over. The try was converted by Kian Rowley. The score was 10-6 at the break.
Unfortunately that's where Stanleys fight back ended and after the break a real battle started to form, Emley proving the stronger and coming home the best side with 14 unanswered points for a 24-6 win. Some shining lights were Stanley debutants Danny Earnshaw and Harrison Talbot, both showing up well. Man of the Match went to Stanley hooker Lewi Bayliss.
