Stanley Rangers u'13's travelled to Sheffield Hawks looking for a confidence boosting before there Wakefield Cup Final against Normanton Knights on Wednesday evening, it didn't turn out that way as in a hard fought battle the Hawks came out on top 30-22,
Sheffield started the best and went in front early with a break away try from debutant Rodine Azemia 6-0, Rangers then made good metres forward with Hopkinson, Rowley and the elusive Joel Kay doing the damage, working there way into a good position for Rowley to power over converting the try himself, 6-6, Hawks then broke the Stanley defence again a powerful run from Azemia again doing the damage, 12-6, a forward battle really started to take place in the middle of the field neither team giving an inch, until Owen Hopkinson burst a tackle and ran 60 metres for a try in the corner Rowley again converting, 12-12 at the break.
The 2nd half started the same as the 1st with Sheffield hitting Stanley with 2 quick tries from Azemia for his 3rd and impressive forward Pota Arthan powering over, 22-12, Stanley refused to give in and some great runs from new signing Lewis Kelly, Lewi Bayliss and hooker Danny Earnshaw started to shine making space for Rowley to power over converting himself, 22-18 and Rangers back in the game but not for long as a powerful run from Arthan bursting through tackles and going 60 metres for the try of the game, 26-18, Sheffield then put the game to bed with Rodine Azemia getting his 4th to make it 30-18, Azemia then almost got his 5th try but for a last ditch tackle from Lewis Pemberton taking him in to touch, Stanley got a late consolation try from Clay Harnetty in the corner but with the clock winding down the gap was too great and Sheffield deservedly claimed the 2 points.
