Stanley Rangers Under 13s looked to bounce back from a disappointing trip to New Earswick All Blacks hosting the Slaithwaite Saracens.
The Saracens didn't read Stanley's script and started strongly off the back of a couple of Stanley mistakes and raced into a 8-0 lead with 2 out-wide tries. To Stanleys credit Stanley didn't panic and some great forward work from Bradbury, Hudson, Rowley and the impressive Lewis Kelly almost got the scooting Alfie Wilkinson at hooker over under the sticks just to be held up. Halfback Rogerson then put a great kick in on the last off the post pad Rogerson reacted quickest to touch down for a converted try 6-8. Stanley really started to dominate the play, the forwards making good metres and halfbacks Rogerson and Harnetty running the show. Getting fullback Kyle Marsh in space he then sent Rowley over out wide, Rowley missed the difficult conversion, making the score 10-8. Stanley went to the interchange to give their hard-working props a rest, Talbot and Owen Hopkinson really started to make inroads, and some slick hands from Rogerson, Harnetty and Joseph Hudson sent in Dylan Roberts for a try in the corner, another difficult conversion missed, 14-8 at halftime.
Stanley started strongly again in the seconf half with some great play from Harnetty who sent the impressive second row Hudson through a gap. Harnetty then supported and made good metres off the quick play of the ball from Hudson and Rogerson's quick hands got Marsh over for a try converted by Rowley, 20-8. Stanley then struck again as they started to really throw the ball around and enjoy themselves. Rowley got some space out wide and powered over the top of 2 defenders and raced round under the sticks - try converted by Marsh with the score now 26-8. As Slaithwaite really tired, the impressive hooker Alfie Wilkinson started to dictate the proceedings making great metres from dummy half again and great play from Harnetty and Rogerson got Marsh in space to score his 2nd try, conversion been missed, 30-8. Stanley then made their first error of the half and the Saracens powered over for a consolation try, 30-12. Stanley went to the interchange bench again forcing a mistake from the kick off and Harnetty, Roberts and Hudson almost got winger Liam Auty in the corner to be just held up. Stanley didn't panic however and came back inside with quick thinking from Harnetty and a pass from behind his back to send Hudson in, 34-12. This was the final score and a great performance from Stanley Rangers Under 13s.
