Stanley were looking to bounce back from a run of defeats, and with
8 players missing from the squad.
Stanley started brightly
with Mason Hindle alongside captain Elliot getting in on the
defensive action straight away. Greetland, a strong organised side,
started passing the ball around and soon got it out wide to score
the first of 4 first half tries without reply. Stanley were unlucky
to go in at HT 0-20 with much of the play in their own half but
Greetland were strong in defence and never gave Rangers an
opportunity to attack more.
2nd half, and Rangers kicked off down hill, on the 2nd tackle
Greetland knocked on, giving Rangers the ball in a dangerous place
and after a couple of passes, the ball found its way to Luke
Nicholls who bulldozed his way over the line, taking a few Greetland
players for the ride with him. Try converted by Rowan Keenan who
would end the game 3/3. The mood was lifted and Rangers found some
fire. The new halfback partnership of Keenan and Daniel Hagen
started clicking and brought about Rangers best period of the game,
Nicholls helping himself to a 7 min Hat-trick. The game was poised
at 18-20 when Rangers knocked on going for another try, Greetland
went up the other end and forced their way over, heads were down,
and soon after the final try for Greetland made the scoreline
18-30.
Rangers were disappointed but could be proud of the effort
shown, some massive efforts put in by Will Dobson, an absolute
pocket dynamite in defence and attack, Harvey Harrap ,whose strong
running and aggression made him hard to tackle. Massive credit to
the full squad who worked hard and well together, all players
putting in hard work all game .
Opposition MOM went to Keenan for an all round display.
Players Player- went to Luke Nicholls for his beast like form
and Hat-Trick.
Man of Steel went to the ever improving tackling machine Kyan
Denton, who hit 16 tackles including 2 belting one on ones.
And Coaches Player of the game deservadly went to Daniel Hagen
whose effort, commitment and use of the ball made him one of the
stand out players!
It's was a game of what if's....... but the Rangers can hold
their heads high on what was a massive performance and improvement
over recent weeks!
