Sheffield Hawks U15s 10 v Stanley Rangers U15s 54
05.05.19
Stanley Rangers Under 15s travelled to Sheffield Hawks
today and started slowly with the hosts building in confidence.
Stanley worked hard with forwards Kelly, Gotoskiej,
Robers and Hampshire setting a solid platform for Gillfeather, Wheelhouse and
Harnetty to play off. Earnshaw chimed in from fullback and sent the ball wide
for centre Moore to put Joel Kay in for the first try, converted by
Gillfeather - 0-6. Stanley struck again quickly with some champagne stuff to
put Kay in for his second try, again converted by Gillfeather - 0-12. Stanley
looked dangerous every moment with ball in hand, loose forward Hampshire
putting up a kick to put pressure on the defence and scoring - 0-18.
Stanley struck again with a powerful run by Gotoskiej to touch down for a try,
converted by Gillfeather - 0-24. The Hawks finally got some ball in hand and
powered over for a try - 4-24. Rangers struck again just before half time with
fullback Earnshaw ghosting through the defence, converted again by Gillfeather
to make the half time score - 4-30.
Stanley started poorly in the second half, taking their
foot off the gas and the Hawks made them pay, with the big prop powering over
the line - 10-34. Stanley woke up after that and scored another 24 points
through Kay who impressed with five tries, a single for Moore and a second try
for Gotoskiej, with Gillfeather kicking 7 out of 10.
Head coach Paul Dean was happy with the attack and the
platform set by the forwards but did say that the defence needs to sharpen up.
Man of the Match went to Kay for his 5 tries.
