This Sunday the Under 9s travelled to New Earswick in York.
The team was playing under 10's rules again and this week we tried to put some organisation into our attacking rugby - utilising our forwards to take the ball away from our lines and drive us into some open spaces. This was intended to create open areas for the quick hands and feet of our backs to keep the pressure on.
It was a fast game from both teams, and on the few occasions our new structure was executed, we scored memorable tries. When our defensive line was on its toes, we created a lot of pressure, and forced a lot of errors from our opponents, giving us a long spell with the ball.
Both teams played honest, fair rugby, which helped to make a great game to watch. We came out with a loss today, but only on paper, watching the game these were two very even sides.
Honours this week went to:
Bobby Fagge - Parents Player
Bobby Fagge - Coaches Player
Oakley Fletcher - for consistent defensive line speed
Opposition Player was Joseph Saine.
