STANLEY RANGERS WITHDRAW FROM THE NCL |
29.06.18
It is with regret that Stanley Rangers have taken the decision to withdraw from the National Conference League with immediate effect and the Committee have sent the following statement:
"It's not been an easy decision, but we have decided as a club, coaching staff and players to withdraw from the National Conference League. We are struggling with injuries and other commitments to put a competitive team in place. We have a young and talented team that is lacking confidence and experience to compete within the NCL at this moment in time and are looking to enter the Yorkshire Men's League for the next couple of seasons to rebuild as a squad and club, with the end aim to re-enter the NCL. We would like to thank the league and the clubs we have played against within our time in the conference for their hospitality over the years."
Chairman of the NCL Trevor Hunt has written to the Committee at Stanley Rangers, saying:
"I am most desperately sorry that Stanley Rangers feel they have to take this course of action. Whatever course of action you now pursue and wherever you play your rugby we sincerely wish you the very best of luck and look forward to hearing from you in the future. Certainly Stanley Rangers and their committee have been a credit to the NCL in their time as members, and it is particularly sad when one of our more established clubs feel they have to take this action."
As a result of this withdrawal, as per competition rules, Stanley Rangers' remaining games will be awarded to their opponents with a score of 10 to 48 for their home games and 63 to 9 for their away games.
1st team coach Anthony Green is still holding training sessions on Tuesday and Thusday evening at 6.45pm. Old and new players are welcome.

STANLEY RANGERS MASCOT IN TRINITY TEAM PHOTO |
19.01.18
It was a great morning at the Sponsors Breakfast held recently at Wakefield Trinity. Stanley Rangers are one of the Ambassador clubs with Trinity and one of the Stanley Rangers junior players won the community prize draw to be the mascot in the official team photo. She is featured in the centre of the photo. The club’s Ambassador Scheme aims to build relationships with community clubs in the Wakefield district to get more children involved in rugby league, and potentially inspire the next generation of Trinity players. Having been nearly two years in the planning, the scheme, which focuses on children between the U7’s and U11’s age groups, got the go ahead in December 2015, and has since seen two roadshow workshops held in 2016 and 2017 which saw over 400 children from six junior rugby clubs in the area attend.

TOUGH END TO A TOUGH SEASON |
01.10.17

END OF AN ERA -BARBARA RAWLINSON RETIRES |

Last Saturday's home game against Waterhead Warriors saw Barbara Rawlinson's last home game before she retires from )pen Age team manager. Barbara has been a volunteer at Stanley Rangers for 28 years. She became involved with Stanley when her son Gareth joined as a junior. It was especially nostalgic as the linesman Steve was actually a coach at Stanley and coached Gareth and was there for his first ever game - little did they know he would also be at Barbara's last home game as Open Age team manager. In 2007 Barbara was awarded Secretary of the Year in the National C9nference League Roll of Honour.
We would like to thank Barbara for all her support and hard work she has given to Stanley Rangers over the years and wish her a very happy retirement
